Good morning, nonexistant readers.
I went and saw Four Day Weekend on Friday night, and they were the funniest I'd seen in quite some time! The show is very hit-or-miss, as they are improv comedy and will not always be on their game. They had a lot of fun at some audience members' expense, including a very weird bachelorette party in the front row, and a very loud, penis-obsessed drunk man in the back of the room. I say weird bachelorette party because, though they were drinking from glow-in-the-dark penis straws (it was a penis-themed evening all around), they were generally quiet.
The 4DW guys did a great job of incorporating rude people into the act. During the COPS parody, two GUYS got up to go to the bathroom (or get more beer, who knows) and ran directly across in front of the skit. Rather than ignore it or get flustered, the guys in the "car" pretended that they hit two pedestrians and had to call it in to the station. As if by magic, the location of the "disturbance" was the insurance company Afflac (audience members write nouns on sticky notes for the performers to use, and Afflac was drawn at the start of the scene) so they got to make jokes about needing insurance to cover the wreck they just had with "two stupid pedestrians." When the guys came back in from the bathroom/bar, the lighting guy spotlighted them alllllll the way back to their seats :D!! I feel sorry for their dates.
Anyway, I highly recommend going to one of their shows if you haven't been before. It's a great place to go with a group of friends or with a date...just be prepared if the spotlight hits you! ;)
Tonight is Eddie Izzard, and in spite of my sickness, I am going to go. Expect a review soon!
